SARAH BROWN

Sarah is a visual artist who graduated in Architecture at the University of Montreal and has been painting for over 20 years. She experiments with various media such as painting, sound and digital art to create art installations. Her painting, which at first may seem like the work of a portraitist or documentarist, seeks to engage a reflexion on our relation to life through the contemplation of common life experiences. The inherent subject is the reflection of oneself through the observation of the other. Drawing inspiration from classical painting and popular culture, exploring such themes as sleep, childhood and identity, her art celebrates the return to a more human and instinctive painting. Her work has been presented in the UK, in Turkey and in Canada. Acting in turn as guest artist, educator, chief editor, co-ordinator and director, she has collaborated with various arts organizations in London, Montreal and in the Laurentians (Quebec).
